Our Story.
Let us introduce ourselves! We are Eva and Richard and we have a passion for exceptional coffee and artisan food.
We launched Cortado in 2018 in the heart of the Newmarket to provide our friends, neighbours and community with the best coffee, artisan bakes, and homemade fresh food we could.
As an ex jockey, Eva designed Cortado with a touch of London Art Deco and with a nod to her racing past. We wanted to make a cozy and stylish place locals and Newmarket race goers could feel welcome while enjoying locally sourced organic food and drinks.
Richard has been serving coffee from his mobile coffee unit since 2007 (pre covid) and has been able to pass on some of his skills and experience to Eva and others.
We celebrate community producers, we buy all our meats from the local butcher and our smoked salmon from a local smoke house and where ever possible we try to use local. Everyday we lovingly bake homemade cakes and treats for our customers and prepare fresh sandwiches, toasties and salads for breakfast, brunch and lunch.
Cortados star attraction, aside from our warm welcome, is our rock star coffee. Personally sourced, slow roasted beans provide a deep and complex flavour to our extensive range of coffee's. Richard has been brewing and percolating since 2005 and is a master barista helping to run Cortado as well as his popular coffee truck in Cambridge.
